HARVEY S. BARTNOF, MD & RACHEL FRANKEL MEEK, DO, MPH
Subsequently, he was a full-time Staff Physician at Santa Teresa Community Medical Center in San Jose, California in Emergency Medicine for eight years (1980-1988), followed by more than ten years in Internal Medicine/Family Medicine (Urgent Care, 1988-1999). Dr. Bartnof was on the clinical faculty in the Department of Medicine at University of California at San Francisco for eight years (UCSF, 1986-1993), where he was Course Co-Director of “AIDS-HIV: Overview and Update” and Medical School Training Coordinator for the AIDS Professional Education Project (1987-1990). He also served as Chief Physician at AIDS Virus Education and Research Institute in San Francisco (1985-2002) and Medical Editor of www.HIVandHepatitis.com (1998-2000). Dr. Bartnof also served on the Scientific Advisory Committee at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation (1987-2001), where he was Chairman (1987-1989) and a member of the Board of Directors (1987-1989). Dr. Bartnof was an invited speaker at the U.S. Presidential Commission on the Human Immunodeficiency Virus Epidemic in 1988, where his testimony was entitled: “Policy Development for Prevention of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Transmission in the Health Care Setting” (Retired Admiral James Watkins, Chairperson). In addition, he was an invited Panel member on “Neuropsychiatric Aspects of HIV” at National Institutes of Mental Health in 1987. Since 2001, Dr. Bartnof developed a strong interest in the area of Preventive Medicine, Preventive Gerontology, Integrative Medicine and Endocrinology of Aging. During a period of approximately 3 years, he accumulated more than 500 continuing medical education credits in these and related fields (the California Medical Board requires only 25 units annually). His education included clinical rotations at Cenegenics Medical Institute in Las Vegas, Nevada and California Healthspan Institute in La Jolla, California. Dr. Bartnof achieved the status of Diplomate of the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine in June 2003 (certificate number 3698) and passed his Oral Examination (Part II) in 2003. Dr. Bartnof founded California Longevity and Vitality Medical Institute® in San Francisco, CA in 2004. He has hosted an Internet Radioshow titled, “Age Management Medicine in the 21st Century,” on www.voiceamerica.com. Several programs are archived for listening 24/7 by Clicking Here. He currently is a member in good standing of the Age Management Medicine Group and Bio-Identical Hormone Society. Dr. Bartnof was an invited Speaker at the 1st and 2nd International Chinese Conferences on Anti-Aging Medicine that were held in 2006 and 2007. At the first Conference, there were more than 400 physicians from China in attendance. At the 2nd Conference, he presented five lectures about Age Management Medicine, Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy and related topics to more than 180 physicians who attended. During the same trip to China, he also gave a lecture to the Preventive Medicine students at Shenyang Medical College and presented Grand Rounds to physicians at Jinzhou Central Hospital in Liaoning Province. At that time, he was awarded the distinguished title of Visiting Professor of Medicine at Shenyang Medical College and Liaoning Medical College. Dr. Bartnof also has given presentations about Age Management Medicine and related topics at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center in Palo Alto, California; KCBS Health Watch in San Francisco; Face and Body Conference in San Francisco; and the New Living Expo exhibitions in San Francisco. RACHEL LYNN FRANKEL, D.O., M.P.H. (aka RACHEL LYNN MEEK) Dr. Rachel Frankel Meek was born in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a graduate of University of California at San Diego (Muir College, 1981) with a B.S. degree in Biology. Dr. Meek received a Masters Degree in Public Health (M.P.H.) from University of California at Berkeley in 1983. She subsequently graduated from The College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific at Western University of Health Sciences in California in 1987. Dr. Meek completed her Internship in Family Medicine and then a Residency in Pediatrics at Kaiser Hospital in Oakland, California. From 1991-2004, she was a Partner at Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in Antioch and Walnut Creek, California. Between 2004 and 2008, she has practiced Family Medicine in the Bay Area. In 2009, Dr. Meek completed the full continuing medical education program in Age Management Medicine at Cenegenics Medical Institute in Nevada. She is certified by Cenegenics in Age Management Medicine. Subsequently, Dr. Meek completed a 2-month Preceptorship in Age Management Medicine with Dr. Harvey S. Bartnof at California Longevity and Vitality Medicine Institute in San Francisco. Dr. Meek joined the Institute as a Staff Physician in 2009, where she practices Age Management Medicine.
