I really like Dr. Meek. She's not a supplement-pusher like many age management medicine doctors, and she's quite knowledgeable and well-rounded, having done family medicine for quite a while before she fled the Kaiser system. She's quite practical and budget-minded. (For example, she doesn't have a problem with me splitting some meds.) I used to see Dr. Bartnof (who started the practice) and was reluctant to see her when he passed away because she's not *him*, but I've actually turned out to be really happy. For me, with hormonal/ pituitary problems, it's been a godsend, even though I started seeing her before the age when "age management medicine" usually kicks in. And it's not actually that crazy expensive, since the pricing is clear; her hourly rate is about half to a third of what lawyers charge in town, and a quarter of what I pay for my ridiculous insurance premium per month. For me it's been well worth it, to have someone on my side with more than the 15 minutes a "PCP" would have at Sutter or my pituitary specialist has at UCSF. You're lucky if you're comfortable financially and can afford this kind of old-fashioned medicine (or afford to prioritize it over other expenses), where someone actually sits down with you and looks at the whole picture. Everybody deserves this kind of care (too bad that's not the world we live in). The world would be a better place if each city had a hundred Dr. Meeks.
